The 2010 funding campaign for the 2010 scholarship has been kicked off. We thank all of you for your continued support. Last year we were able to award three $1,500 scholarships to future nurses. Our Scholarships dates for applicants for 2010 year have been set they are as follows: students can begin to apply January 25, 2010. All applications must be submitted by April 9, 2010. The 2009 fundraising was another successful campaign. We wish to thank all our supporters and those that contribute to the Foundation. We know economic times are tough so we really appreciate your donation. Also this year we hope to send to all of you a quarterly news letter. Again a big thank you to all of you. The dates for the applications for the scholarships have been set. Applicants can begin the process beginning February 2, 2009 with closing date of April 3, 2009. The scholarship recipients will be announced May 4th, 2009.

The Valli A. Kirk Foundation Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce that four students have each been awarded a one-time $2,000.00 scholarship for the 2008-2009 college school year.

This year’s scholarship recipients are Kelsey Edwards, Weiser High School in Weiser, Amanda Gammett, Kaylee Wilkes, and Lanie Whitinger all three students are from Skyview High School in Nampa.

The Foundation was established to honor Valli Kirk for her life’s work as a nurse in the Boise area. Kirk passed away in May 2005, from a yearlong battle with brain cancer. The Non- Profit Foundation was established to help with the shortage of nurses by providing college scholarships for students pursuing a career in nursing.

Once again we had a successful funding drive. We raised over $6,000.00 for this years scholarship. We wish to thank all of you for your generosity and prayers for our Foundation. The Scholarship Committee has set deadlines for this years applicants. All forms must be submitted by April 4, 2008.

This year’s scholarship recipients are Clare Hedrick, Bishop Kelly High School in Boise, Nampa student Danielle Peterson from Skyview High School, Julia Lukomsky and Kayla Morton, both from Meridian Medical Arts Charter High in Meridian.

The 2007 scholarship application process is now closed.  We wish to thank those students that have applied. The Scholarship Committee will be meeting in the next two weeks and will announce the award winners in the last week of April.

The Valli A. Kirk Foundation is pleased to announce that the foundation will be giving four (4) $2,000 one time scholarships for freshman students who will be pursuing a degree in nursing. All applicants must have information to the Scholarship Committee by April 6, 2007. The scholarship winners will be announced May 4, 2007.

We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Funding letters for 2006 have been sent out and so far the response has been good. We are pleased that Idaho Governor  Jim Risch has established a committee to help relieve the Nursing Shortage. We look forward to the results of his efforts and offer our help. Letters will be sent by the end of January to High Schools about deadlines for applying for scholarship's. The deadline is for applications will be April 6, 2007 with recipients notified April 27, 2007. Any questions please email us or call.

We are pleased to announce our first scholarship award winners for the Valli A. Kirk Foundation.  Each winner will receive a $500.00 scholarship.  The winners are:

1. Kendra Johansen from Nampa High School, attending BYU-Idaho.

2. Whitney Sparks from Centennial High School, attending Boise State University.

3. Spencer Richards from Centennial High School, attending BYU-Idaho.

Fundraising began December 9, 2005, and we are happy to report that as of January 20, 2006, over $8,000 has been donated.  Thanks for all your support!  If you would like to make a contribution you can make donations online here at our website, or mail in a check or money order.

By January 27th letters to the principals of all the Treasure Valley high schools will be sent out announcing the foundation and scholarships available to their students.
