The applications process begins January 25, 2010 and ends April 9, 2010. The award winners will be announced May 3, 2010. Thank You!

The Valli A. Kirk Foundation was established to provide scholarships for students that wish to become dedicated nurses and is intended to help relieve the shortage of nurses.  Our hope is to extend the memory of Valli and help inspire a new generation to pursue a degree in nursing.  The applicant must be enrolled full time and seeking a degree in nursing at an accredited university or college.

Applicants must fill out a Valli A. Kirk Foundation Scholarship Form, provide a copy of the FAFSA financial form, a copy of their high school transcript with a minimum GPA of 2.5, a written essay on “Why I am Pursing A Degree In Nursing," a list of school activities, a list of community involvement and a letter of recommendation from one of their teachers. The rating chart below will be used to determine the top candidates.

• Financial Need..........................................25 points

• Academic Record......................................25 points

• Past demonstrated hard work ethic,
  determination to improve lives...................25 points

• Individual personal character.....................15 points

• Participation in school, community,
  and other activities...................................10 points

The top applicants will be required to have a personal interview with the scholarship committee and winners will be announced on May 3, 2010.

The scholarship amount will be given directly to the university or college that the winner will be attending the following semester.
